Confidential HIV Counseling & Testing, Referrals and
Partner Notification
When you
come for counseling and testing at BAS, you can expect:

Free
and confidential HIV counseling and testing
-
Counseling that is focused on you, helping you to
identify high-risk behaviors and develop ways to
decrease and/or eliminate these behaviors from your
lifestyle.

Two
available methods of testing: rapid testing which
provides results within 20 minutes, or oral fluid
testing which provides results within 4 business
days.

For
those who test HIV-positive, referrals to
appropriate service providers: health care
providers, supportive services, risk reduction
services, case management and partner assistance.

For
those who test negative, referrals to appropriate
prevention services, many of which are located with
BAS.
BAS also
provides partner assistance counseling and referrals.
If you are HIV-positive, you will receive an explanation
of available partner assistance options and related
legal requirements, and engage in a discussion about
which option(s) would best serve your needs.

Mobile
Counseling and Testing
The
Mobile Outreach team provides free and confidential HIV
counseling and testing at many locations throughout the
Bronx. While
on the mobile unit, you will be able to obtain a Rapid
HIV test. Rapid testing provides you with the results
within 20 minutes. When applicable, you may also
receive an OraSure test to confirm your results.
